From environmental pollution to stress, intolerance to certain foods, and hormones, the skin’s reaction ranges from eczemas to severe rashes and allergies which can cause emotional unbalance and embarrassment. Such skin reactions can be treated with supplements, regular detoxification, herbs, exercise and proper diet.
Here is a list of home remedies for your skin problems:
Calendula – its antiviral and antibacterial properties make it a great remedy for minor cuts, insect bites, acne, dry skin, burns and minor inflammations. You can also use it as an astringent and facial wash twice a day to get rid of acne.
Chamomile – this herb can be used internally as well as externally. Its calming effect on the nervous system soothes irritability and releases tension, being effective for skin affections like psoriasis and eczema. You should prepare a herbal tea from its flowers and drink it 3 times a day. Alternatively, you can use it externally by soaking a clean cloth in the tea and apply it on the inflamed region for 15 minutes, up to 6 times a day. This herb is also the base for many other skin treatments and you can find it in moisturizers, shampoo, soaps, and so on.
Comfrey – this is best for treating burns, cuts or other wounds. Its agents stimulate healthy cell growth and accelerates the healing process, while also soothing the skin. Prepare a comfrey poultice out of powdered comfrey root and hot water. Mix them well, spread the paste on a cloth and then apply on the wound. You can leave it overnight for a quicker healing. Never ingest this plat, though, as its alkaloid compounds could cause severe liver damage.
Emu Oil – this treats bites, cuts, burns, poison ivy itch and it’s also claimed to rejuvenate hair and skin cells, promoting thus hair growth. You can combine this with other beauty products like shampoos, conditioners, cleansers, lip balms, body lotions and shaving creams.
Flaxseed – it acts against the inflammation and treats the skin disorders (psoriasis, eczema) due to its omega 3 essential fatty acids. Take 1 to 2 tbsp. of cold pressed flaxseed oil on a daily basis. It’s recommended that you take it along with some food, and not on its own.
Pine Tar Products and Calaguala Fern – if you have scalp problems, dry, or itchy skin, you should use this combination of calaguala fern and pine tar. It’s an old, but very effective European remedy, a mixture also found in bath products, shampoos, kin creams, conditioners and soaps.
